Archiving solution
Octopus COLD archiving solution developed by Logon S.I relies on different technologies that make it a product perfectly adapted to archiving issues. Octopus COLD aims to replace archive production on micro files, microfilms and the production of paper listings through an electronic solution. It consists of retrieving formatted computer data (text, logos, signatures, graphics…) produced by “Spool” files located in mainframes and departmental servers and storing them on optical supports without modifying their print structure.

Octopus COLD extracts spool files, either ASCII, EBCDIC or a more structured type like AFP (IBM) or METACODE/DJDE (XEROX). Spool files can contain data, page background, logos, signatures…thanks to the A.P.A technique (All Point Addressable), Octopus COLD guarantees the respect of the layout. For structured modes (AFP, METACODE/DJDE or others) Octopus COLD converts files into PDF format. This format defined by ADOBE, is increasingly being used as a standard in electronic document definition (text and images) and allows an easy and coherent integration with imaging EDM solutions.
